7 Mysterious Places on Earth


Our beautiful planet is full of mysteries and wisdom, no doubt, and there is so much more to learn from it besides what we already know. Whoever thinks he has seen it all and the world holds nothing in store for him could not be more wrong. There are places on Earth which we know so little about and draw our attention. These places are perfect for a tourist spot and for a science research all together. Here are a couple of these high profile places which you should visit at least once, and see for yourself what the big deal is about.
1. Antarctica

The great white continent has the coldest weather we know, is windy and appears unsuitable for life although there are birds who nest here and call it a habitat. The place holds between 1000  and 4000 scientist for research and that is pretty much all we know about it. If you care to join an adventure, buckle up because the South Pole is one cold place.
2.The Pyramid of Giza

Formerly a tomb for the pharaoh and the tallest building made by men, at least for more than 3.800 years, the Pyramid of Giza still raises questions over its structure, building techniques and purpose. It makes for a great tourist sight and an interesting expedition and clue hunting.

3.The Easter Island

You probably know of the famous meters high stone carved figures that face the ocean. This Polynesian island is famous for them and for the culture that once inhabited the island but faded out. Whether the statues were created for purpose of worshiping Gods, ancestors or chieftains, it is truly hard to tell.
4. Stonehenge

Created by a prehistoric civilization and currently sight of many Wiccan rituals and festivals, Stonehenge remains a living mystery. Since it was created by a civilization that left no written documents and marks  it is had to tell if the place was meant for rituals, astronomic observation, burial ground or who knows what else. Stonehenge is part of UNESCO Heritage and it is by far one of the most mysterious places to visit on the old continent.
5. Loch Ness

You probably heard of Nessie, the monster that lives in Loch Ness, the biggest freshwater lake in Scotland. Well, the legend and rumor has spread world wide and now the place has a constant inflow of tourist curious to find out for themselves if the waters of Loch Ness hide something spectacular.
6.The Nazca Lines

Created between 400 and 650 A.D. the Nazca Lines are geoglyphs created in the Nazca Desert in Peru. The lines are considered to have had a religious significance and some even believe they were made by aliens, but that is an entirely different story. Best way to observe the lines is from the air.
7. Area 51

Controversial and featured in many movies, Area 51 is a closed off land 80 miles Northwest from Las Vegas. The place has been been associated with alien ship crashes and UFO conspiracy. Although little has been known for sure about the area, it has recently been named as testing ground for spy planes.
